Bodhgaya
Bodh Gaya is a Holy place of Budhhism. Bodh Gaya is located in Gaya District of Bihar, India. It is famous place for Buddhism because Gautama Buddha’s attainment of Nirvana (Enlightenment). Before 18th Century it was well known as Bodhimanda (ground around the Bodhi-tree). Bodhimanda-vihāra (Pali) was the main monastery of Bodhgaya.
Now the Bodhimanda-vihara (pali) is called the Mahabodhi Temple. Mahabodhi means ‘Great Enlightenment’. Bodhgaya was a part of th Uruvela village. The Uruvela village is presently known as Urail. Bodhgaya is a Hallowed and an ancient place on earth. It is the holiest of the holies palce for Budhhism of the world. The Bodhgaya is situated on the bank of the river Niranjana. It is the Historical place in Bihar not for Budhhism but also for Jains, Hindus and Sikhs. In 500 BC Prince Gautama Siddhartha was an ascetic and reach the bank of river Falgu near the Gaya City, Where he sat for meditation under Bodhy Tree. After the meditation of three days and three nights he got the enlightenment and insight. Mahabodhi Temple become a UNESCO world Heritage Site in Bodh Gaya.
The Bodhgaya is not merely an outline of events but for its importance from an artistic and architectural view. The Lord Gautama Buddha got divine light in Mahabodhi Temple. After attaining Enlightenment under the bodhi tree the prince Siddhartha become the Buddha. It is same name and fame as Mecca, Benaras, and Amritsar. The exact place where Buddha sat is called the Vajrasana means ‘Diamond Throne’. It is believe that when the universe destroy it could be the last place to disappear and the first place to re-evolve in the universe. It is the most important and sacred Buddhist pilgrim in the world. The temple is in the east of the Bodhi Tree. Its basement is 48 sqft. And its total height is 170 ft. The other Treasures of Bodhgaya is 80 ft Statue of the Buddha, Budha Kund, Lotus Tank, Rajayatana, Buddhist Monastery of Bhutan and many more. The Pretshila Hill added the beauty in Gaya and it is 12 km from Gaya. Vishnupad Temple was built by the Queen Ahilya Bai on the bank of river Falgu in 1787. Barabar Caves is important for archaeological site. Ahilya Bai Temple was built by the Queen of Indore Ahilya Bai in 1787. It was famous for their unique architecture and magnificent sculptures.
